Speaker Bio
Shinya Shimada is responsible for promoting international cooperation projects in the digital field such as 5G/Open RAN, subsea cable, data center and satellite.
His professional career within the MIC includes telecom/audiovisual legislation such as the Telecommunications Business Act, Radio Act and Broadcasting Act, promotion of international cooperation such as Japanese Digital TV Standards, and engagement in organizational reforms of the Ministry to establish the Global Strategy Bureau.
He also served as Chief Strategy Officer of a start-up company in Northern Virginia for 4 years and launched a new data business in the U.S. by temporarily leaving his office, and served as a diplomat at the Permanent Delegation to the OECD in Paris for 3 years.
He graduated from Northwestern University School of Law in 2006 with an LL. M. with honors.
