Speaker Bio
I am Dr. Alex Jinsung Choi from South Korea, an established figure in the global mobile telecommunication industry with over 30 years of experience. Currently, I am the chair of the Board in AI-RAN Alliance. I was leading T-Labs in Group Technology at Deutsche Telekom AG. I was the Chair of the O-RAN Alliance between June 2022 and June 2024, a role that allowed me to guide the evolution of radio access networks (RAN) towards open and intelligent solutions.
My leadership journey started at LG Electronics, where I held multiple positions, including the Head of the Mobile Core Technology Lab and the Next Generation Telecommunications Lab from 1998 to 2011. From there, I transitioned to SK Telecom, South Korea, as the CTO and Head of the Corporate R&D Division and the Technology Strategy Office. During this tenure, I directed the development of next-generation ICT technologies such as 5G, AI/ML, cloudification, Software Defined RAN, and autonomous networks. Currently, I am working at SoftBank Japan.
Apart from my corporate responsibilities, I have taken on several pivotal roles in industry associations. I previously chaired the Korea Artificial Intelligence Industry Association and served as the founding Chairman of the Telecom Infra Project (TIP), an initiative driven by Facebook, Deutsche Telekom, and SK Telecom.
