Speaker Bio

Francesca Forestieri, Automotive Lead for GlobalPlatform (the global standardisation organisation for digital security services), is responsbile for bringing together the automotive value chain with experts on trusted digital services to address the latest developments in the ecosystem and work to future-proof connected services, including:
a) How best to deploy secure components - Secure Element (SE), Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) - for automotive use cases
b) Identification of any gaps around cybersecurity within the GlobalPlatform domain (solutions, guidelines, specifications, certifications)
c) Definition of requirements for updates to GlobalPlatform specifications to meet the needs of the automotive market


Francesca Forestieri also led the mAutomotive work stream in the Connected Living programme at the GSMA.  Within her role, Francesca head up the GSMA Connected Car Forum, bringing together automakers and mobile operators from across the globe with the aim to overcome existing barriers and advance cross-industry opportunities for the development of telematics and infotainment services.


She has over 20 years of experience for launching and developing new initiatives in the planning and applied use of new technologies in transport and telecommunication fields.  She is a strong business advocate working across multiple stakeholders towards a common objective, both with trade associations as well as individual organisations.

Her expertise spans different fields including:
• Internet of Things service development: the application of new technologies in different industrial sectors, which have not traditionally leveraged connected services, including evaluating the scale of opportunity and the opportunity for value-add service development.
• Telematics and infotainment service development: automotive requirements for connected car services, associated business models, the importance of technical functionality on service delivery (e.g. embedded SIM, billing & charging), the opportunity of big data associated to the connected car, regulatory mandates for automotive, etc.


She has been an external expert for the European Commission for more than 20 years in supporting the selection for financing and assessing of achievements of new R&D projects in the ITS area.
