Omar Puertas is a specialist in international arbitration, dispute resolution and crisis management. In 2000, he joined the litigation and international arbitration team at Cuatrecasas in Barcelona, one of the leading law firms in Spain, Portugal and Latin America. From 2002 to 2003, he worked in Skadden's, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP international arbitration team. He assists clients in resolving complex and high-stakes conflicts while leading the implementation of AI solutions at the enterprise level.
In 2007, he moved to Shanghai to establish Cuatrecasas' first office in Asia, where he served as managing partner until 2019. There, he built a practice focused on advising foreign and Chinese investors on international transactions, as well as on dispute resolution with Asian, European, and Latin American components. He is a member of the Shanghai International Arbitration Center panel and teaches commercial dispute resolution.
